Step 1
Sign up for the ExtraCare rewards card. You can do it online (see resources section) or by asking the cashier for an application. The ExtraCare card will allow you to save money in two ways, as outlined in the next steps.
-
Step 2
When entering the store, look for the circular, usually found by the shopping baskets area. This lists items available at lower price for ExtraCare members. Also, while browsing through the store, look for items with yellow tags, which means they are on sale, again, only for members.
-
Step 3
Also look for items whose labels says they give you 'Extra Bucks'. Extra bucks come in the form of a coupon attached to your receipt which you can use on future purchases of most items in the store. Be aware that they have an expiration date.
-
Step 4
Scan your ExtraCare card at price check machines for more coupons. You will also get coupons attached to your receipt, besides the Extra Bucks mentioned above. Don't forget to show the cashier your ExtraCare card. They will usually ask if you have one.
-
Step 5
Consider buying items with the CVS brand, which are generally cheaper than other brads available in store, and of comparable quality.
-
Step 6
Sometimes, certain items that have been on the shelves for a long time, usually appliances or furniture, will end up discounted by as much as 75%. Patient stalking of such items has its rewards! :)
-
Step 7
Candy and other items related to a certain holiday will be on sale by up to 90% of the original price as soon as that holiday has passed. This is a good time to stock up for next year!
