Aside from your wedding dress, your prom dress is going to be the most meaningful dress you’ll ever wear. Prom signifies endings, new beginnings and the last month you have to spend with your high school friends. Choosing the perfect prom dress will make your special day all the more memorable.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find your ideal prom dress style. The prom dress needs to fit your style, not that of your classmates. Don’t choose to buy a prom dress simply because it looks like what your friends are going to wear to prom; you can’t be yourself when your following trends. Choose a prom dress style that is close to your heart. If you’ve dreamed of wearing a big glittery ball gown to prom since you were five, go for it.

  2. Step 2

Analyze your size. Are you short and pudgy? Tall and thin? Average size all around? The overall shape and size of your body should play a big factor when choosing your prom dress. Analyze your body size and body shape and choose a prom dress according to what looks good on your specific body type.

  3. Step 3

Get comfortable. Your prom night is going to be a long night, there is the pre-prom dinner, the actual prom event and likely an after prom party; you need to choose a comfortable prom dress so you can enjoy yourself throughout the evening. As a rule of thumb, don’t choose a prom dress that is too short, revealing or has flimsy straps. This will ensure that prom night wardrobe malfunctions stay away.

  4. Step 4

Don’t blow your wallet. While it is true that prom will be an unforgettable night, you don’t want to drain your life savings into this evening. Choose a dress that is well within your budget, the cheaper the prom dress the better. After all, you will only get a chance to wear your prom dress once, what’s the use of depleting your bank account for one time dress?
