Choose your sources wisely. Information from Joes health blog will probably have not has as many fact checks as Harvard, The WHO (world health organization) or the CDC (centers for disease control). There are other reputable sites such as Web MD that you may want to check as well.

Remember the there may be a bias to the information on any given site. Information on a drug that comes from the company selling it has an obvious bias. A site with a major sponsor does too. While this bias may not be obvious right away you should be able to spot it with some careful reading.

Search symptoms accurately if you are using an online diagnostic tool list all of your symptoms as accurately as possible. "Pain", will yield you thousands of results. Stabbing pain in right leg", will narrow things down considerably.
