Make a Memorial Day Wreath With Kids

Keep your kids busy on this 3 day holiday by creating a Memorial Day wreath. Most of the time, there is a rainy day over the weekend, so that would be the perfect opportunity to get the craft box out.

After making your wreath, concider donating it to a veteran's hospital.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper plate
  • Red, white and blue tissue paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Piece of yarn or string
  • Glitter
  1. Step 1

    Measure and cut a piece of string or yarn to the desired length for the hanger. Punch two holes on the top of the paper plate for your hanger attachment.

  2. Step 2

    Cut out the center of the plate. You can save this piece for future crafts. Then cut out 5" x 5" squares of of the red, white and blue tissue paper. Start out with a small amount to cover your surface.

  3. Step 3

    Crumple tissue and apply a dab a glue to the plate. Attach and alternate the colors around your circle until full.

  4. Step 4

    Dab small dots of glue around wreath. Sprinkle glitter. Let dry and then attach your hanger.

Tips & Warnings
  • Lay down a covering on your work area to help with the clean up of glitter messes
  • Use non toxic materials
