You can use mineral oil for cracked heels and beautiful feet.

Sandal season is upon us and scaly, cracked heels can be painful and embarrassing. We can avoid painful cracked heels by keeping our heels moisturized and hydrated. If you already have cracked heels, here is a great way to heal your heels!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Medium size plastic tub (large enough for your feet to fit in)
  • 1 cup mineral oil
  • Loofah or pumice stone
  • Towel
  • Fragrance free moisturizing lotion
  • 1 pair soft cotton socks
  1. Step 1

Pour 1 cup of mineral oil into plastic tub and fill with enough warm water to cover feet entirely. Soak feet for 10 minutes.

  2. Step 2

After ten minutes, the skin on heels should feel soft. The skin will also look lighter and prune-like. Remove feet from tub but do not dry them with the towel. Gently rub off dead skin from cracked heels using a loofah or pumice stone. Be gentle! Don’t worry about getting too much skin off in this step. Just try to remove the surface dead skin from the heels.

  3. Step 3

Using towel, pat feet dry and generously apply moisturizing lotion to damp heels. Be sure to cover the entire area including inside the cracks.

  4. Step 4

Avoid rinsing lotion off of heels until the next time you bathe or shower.

  5. Step 5

Cover feet with pair of soft cotton socks and wear overnight.

  6. Step 6

Repeat process every other night for 1-2 weeks for proper healing.

Tips & Warnings
  • For an ultra moisturizing treatment, rub vegetable shortening or raw honey on cracked heels and cover with socks. Wear overnight.

on 5/17/2009 This is a great way to get Rid of Cracked Heels. The thought of those razors and "graters" being used on feet make me cringe. I like the loofas because they seem to have some healing and softening power of their own.
