Woodsball refers to paintball games that are not played on a regulated or refereed playing field. Woodsball most commonly consists of a group of individuals who meet; agree upon basic rules, boundaries and an objective or point of winning; and then play. This is also termed outlaw paintball and is a direct carryover of the original paintball games as played when the sport was just emerging.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paintball marker and ammunition
  • Protective gear, including helmet and goggles
  1. Step 1

Be part of a team. Unless so assigned, do not go it alone. Paintball is typically a team-oriented sport. Players rely upon one another to survive and accomplish a mission.

  2. Step 2

Use common sense and practice safety. For example, do not shoot an individual at close range, especially from behind. Paintball pellets are dangerous and can cause injury. Give opponents the opportunity to surrender at close ranges.

  3. Step 3

Be a good sport. When you are hit, you are hit. Swallow your pride, handle the adrenaline and leave the field of play. Be honest.

  4. Step 4

Have fun. Woodsball is a game, and games are meant to be fun. Even intense competition can be fun, so keep the right frame of mind when playing. This is especially important in non-regulated fields of play.

  5. Step 5

Do not damage property of others or trespass. There will no doubt be times when the temptation arises to play in a wooded area or lot that just seems perfect for play. However, obtain permission before playing, or else there may be legal ramifications.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure all equipment is in good condition and proper working order.
  • If possible, use a chronograph to check guns before play to ensure safe muzzle velocities are observed. Wear all necessary protective equipment.
