How to Decorate a Room for Beatitudes

The Beatitudes are eight blessings that Jesus Christ spoke of when He gave the Sermon On The Mount. He spoke of blessings people would receive when they were peacemakers, pure of heart and meek and the sharing of other redeeming qualities of the inner person. The Beatitudes can be used as an inspiration for decoration of a study, bedroom or home library. The words will be a blessing for a person who is fighting an illness, dealing with personal loss or who simply needs a boost of spirit for the family. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a color that is peaceful to you. You could choose the blue of the sky, white clouds or dove gray.
Paint the walls of your room. A feature wall could be painted in a second color which is inspiring for you.
The ceiling could be done in cloud white with subtle swirls of blue.

    • 2

Stencil the Beatitude phrases from the top to the bottom of your feature wall or around the top. You may wish to feature only one or the entire set of eight Beatitudes. The color can be a pale white trimmed in gold or a light version of the color on the opposite wall.

    • 3

Add comfortable furniture that is required to serve the room. Warm tones that blend with the walls will keep the peace filled atmosphere in the room. Pillows and soft rugs or throws will add extra comfort.

    • 4

Add a print of a painting which depicts the Sermon on The Mount or a Thomas Kinkade piece that reflects the promise of God's Light. Install lighting that will enhance the art work.

    • 5

Add candlesticks and any form of candle to the room. The candles can be lit to give light and serenity for times of relaxation, study or prayer.

    • 6

Add a cross or other symbol of your religious faith. A portrait of Christ will also be appropriate.

    • 7

Add small statues of doves, a display for a Bible and a heart paper weight to the table or mantle in the room for accessories that subtly reflect the Beatitudes.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have a low budget simply stencil the beatitudes on to a wall hanging. Add pillows, candles and comfortable throws to change the atmosphere in your room.
