This easy-to-build magnetic spice rack will provide you with an attractive and useful way to store your spices, clearing up storage space and making it easy to find what you need in a pinch. Things You'll Need

  • Desired size rectangle of 22-gauge steel (most hardware stores carry this pre-cut or you can order one from a metal supply shop)
  • Altnernatively, some home decor stores sell magnetic strips
  • Desired number of watchmaker cases (shop online for best deals)
  • Heavy-duty magnets (one for each watchmaker case)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Four screws and a drill
  • Spices
  • Permanent marker or labeler

Instructions

    • 1

      If you buy your magnetic strip from a store, it should be ready to screw directly into the wall above your stove, or wherever you want want your spice rack located.

      If you bought a strip of steel from a hardware store, drill holes through each corner, level your rectangle, and fit it to the wall using the screws.

      Using your hot glue gun, attach a magnet to the back of each watchmaker case.

      Fill each case with your favorite spices. Make sure to indicate which spice is in each case, using either your permanent marker or labeler.

      Stick your spices to your new rack and enjoy!

    Any tips on how to make the tins easier to open? They are so difficult. You cannot keep powder in these - they are virtually stuck, and when you do get it open, it splatters everywhere!
