1
Lose weight. The more overweight you are, the more likely you are to get a double chin. When the pounds peel off from the rest of your body, your chin is sure to follow suit. Cut back on calories; eat fewer carbs; and stop eating fried foods, processed foods, sugary foods and junk foods. Opt instead to eat lean poultry, fiber-rich foods and fresh fruits and vegetables. Additionally, do more walking, aerobics and other forms of physical activity to make the weight come off, and you should begin to see your chin appear more slim.

2
Exercise your platysma, the facial muscle connected with your jaw's downward motion. Bring your lower lip over your top lip for 15 seconds, and repeat the pattern several times. You can also try another facial exercise in which you open your mouth wide and hold a tennis ball under your chin as long as you can. Chewing gum (sugar free, of course) also gives your jaw a good workout. These are examples of simple exercises to help make your chin tighter and firmer that you can do easily at work or at home.

Use an over-the-counter skin toner to help firm your chin. Massage it in by stroking in an upward direction toward your face. Do this on a daily basis until you notice a difference.

4
Modify your posture. Slouching can make your entire body, including your chin, look sloppier. Make an effort to improve your posture by standing and sitting up straight and jutting your jaw muscles a little.

Consider getting submental lipectomy, a plastic surgery procedure commonly known as the "neck lift." A small incision is made under your chin so that fat can be removed, and your chin will have a slimmer appearance. If you decide to take this route, understand that this kind of surgery is unlikely to be covered by your health insurance. Make sure that the plastic surgeon you choose is board certified and has a good record of experience in performing this procedure successfully.
