A fender amp

If a Fender amp is making strange noises or is failing to work at all, it might need to be repaired or replaced. While there are repair services that specialize in fixing the Fender amp, a do-it-yourselfer can often repair one without little difficulty. Most of the time, the only problem with the Fender amp is with the input cord or a problem with the power outlet.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the input jack to ensure that it is not loose. Tighten this if it is loose.

    • 2

Check the cap on the volume and tone control. If the cap is loose, tighten it.

    • 3

Use the voltage meter to check the voltage of the amp to ensure that the amp has the proper voltage recommended in the manual.

    • 4

Check the input plug to make sure that it is not loose. This can be checked by removing the back plate of the Fender amp. The back plate can be removed by unscrewing the screws that hold it to the back of the Fender amp. If the input plug is loose, jiggle it back into place.

    • 5

Determine whether or not a fuse blew on the Fender amp by plugging in a different electrical appliance to the power source. If the fuse is blown, the fuse will need to be replaced.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sometimes the back plate can become wedged, so use a thin metal tool, such as a pocket knife, to pry it open.

  • Some Fenders have very high voltage, making them electrical hazards.
