Jumping rope is a great form of exercise. Not only is jumping rope a lot of fun, but it is good for your body and heart. What a great way to spend time with your friends. When you start to learn how to jump rope, remember that practice makes perfect. Jump rope as much as you can and you will be real good in no time. Here are the very basic steps to jumping rope.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Get a good-quality jump rope. Your jump rope does not need to cost a lot of money, it can be a basic kid's jump rope found in the toy or exercise section of your local department store or sporting goods store online. Make sure you do not purchase a very light jump rope as it will not turn correctly.

  2. Step 2

Grab the handles of your jump rope. Put the rope behind your back and let it hang down on the ground behind your feet.

  3. Step 3

With the handles of your jump rope gripped firmly, throw the jump rope over your head in one fluid movement. Make sure it is a smooth movement.

  4. Step 4

Right before the jump rope gets to your feet, jump! Continue swinging the jump rope in one fluid movement over your head. Continue jumping and turning the rope over and over as many times as you can without missing the jump.

  5. Step 5

Practice as much as possible. You will be surprised how quickly you will be able to jump rope very well. Never give up.
