Step 1
Know your expectations. What do you expect your children to do this summer? Do you expect them to sit and watch TV all day, get a job, entertain themselves, play with friends, play with you, or something else. Think about what you expect to happen and how you can help fulfill those expectations.
-
Step 2
Know what your children expect. What do your children expect to do this summer? Do they expect to be entertained all summer, driven from one exciting activity to another, play video games all day, have time to relax at home, or something else.
-
Step 3
Get it in writing. Have everyone in the family write down 3 things they would like to do this summer. They might not get what they want if it is an expensive thing, but they can at least get a chance to voice their wishes and see what happens.
-
Step 4
Make the most of the time you have together. Your children will be grown before you know it. Take some time out of your agenda and do some fun things together. If you have lots to do, include them in your activity and tell them you will do an activity with them when this project is done.
-
Step 5
Realize that some of the best memories are free. Watch a sunset together, take a walk, ride your bikes, work in the garden, spray each other with the garden hose, and much more. Even though your children don’t always behave the way you want them to, realize that they are gifts to you to raise for a time. Encourage and love them as much as you can with the time you have with them.

on 6/17/2009 It hard to keep up in the summer with what eveyones wants and don't wants. Keeping a calendar is a good way to keep it all organized and not forget about someone.
