Things You'll Need:
- Mr Clean Magic Eraser
- Q-tips
- Computer Screen Wipes
- Microfiber Cloth
- Can of compressed air for electronics
-
Step 1
For the area around the keyboard and track pad, and the monitor bezel, use the Mr Clean magic eraser, lightly, very lightly moistened. Squeeze it before using it to make sure most of the water is out. Lightly is the word here. This thing is in effect a very fine sander, so no pressure should be applied. Go over the areas mentioned, and nothing more. When you're done, wipe with the microfiber cloth to get any particles away.
-
Step 2
For the keys and the space among keys, use q-tips. One side lightly moistened with water, the other side dry. Use the moist part first and then wipe the same area with the dry side to get the moisture away. It helps to hold the key down while cleaning it.
Use a can of electronics-approved compressed air for the areas under the keys, where an unbelievable amount of particles can accumulate.
At the end, wipe with the microfiber cloth. -
Step 3
The LCD display should be cleaned with wipes designed for this very purpose. You can find them at many stores, like Staples, Walmart or Kmart.Follow the instructions on the packaging and never apply a lot of pressure!. Never squeeze the monitor between your hand and the wipe.
At the end, use the microfiber cloth yet again.
The same wipes can be used to clean the outside case of your MacBook. Don't use them on any ports or openings though, just the white shiny parts! :)
