High heels make a woman look sexy and instantly put together. Whether you are attending a life changing event, such as your wedding or graduation or simply are having an evening dinner with the girls, high heels will make you look like the instant beauty queen you want to be. While it is true that high heels can make you look gorgeous in an instant, if you aren’t able to walk properly in high heels, you will look like an absolute fool.

    Analyze your foot. Before you even attempt to sling on sexy high heels, you need to analyze your foot’s shape and comfort level. Does your foot have any abnormalities that would make walking in high heels difficult? Examples of foot abnormalities are a wide foot, high arch or a flat foot.

    Scrutinize your size. Are you extremely overweight (e.g. 50 lbs +)? If so, walking in high heels that are sky high will be terribly painful. When you wear teetering high heels, your weight is magnified and the balls of your feet will have to carry up to three times your normal weight. For example, if you normally weight 170lbs the balls of your foot will have to bear 510lbs. If you are overweight, stick to high heels that are no higher than 3.75”.

    Learn to Balance. Put on your high heels and stand on a flat surface. Pull your shoulders back, hold your tummy in tight and hold your posture straight. Now, just stand for a minute or two and see how comfortable you are keeping your balance. Try to place your weight on the heels of your feet. Practice balancing several times before you attempt to walk, once you stop wobbling you are ready to walk in high heels!

    Walk in your high heels. Keep the same posture as you did in step 3 and simply walk forwards while slightly placing one foot into the other. The trick to walking in high heels is to evenly distribute your weight between both feet. Practice walking in your backyard, house or somewhere private before making your high heeled debut in public.

Tips & Warnings
  • Buy platform high heels. Platform heels provide your with stability and make walking less painful.
  • Break in new high heels before wearing them out in public. Wear your new pair of high heels around your house for at least an hour three times before taking them out into the public. This allows you to stretch the material and make the shoe fit your foot like a comfortable glove.
  • Do not wear high heels that are too tall for your comfort. As a beginner, you need to become comfortable in high heels that are 3.75” or less before working your way up into the sky high league.
