Nerve Pain Relief

Nerve pain relief can be yours if you know how to get it. Many people run to the drug store to buy over the counter drugs. In fact, they sometimes run to the doctor to get prescription drugs. While this brings temporary pain relief you still need to be doing something that actually heals and not just masks your pain.

      Massage

Nerve pain relief is a welcomed by those who have a lot of it. I am one of those people who has had plenty of nerve pain. I have had shingles for years and also RSD, which is a painful nerve disorder that can totally disable a person if not treated properly. I do not like to take any type of drug unless I absolutely have to, therefore, I seek alternatives.

One way to relieve nerve pain is with hand held massagers as well as alternating hot and cold treatments. You have to know your body and what type of pain it is. For example, I know that I cannot use ice or heat with RSD pain it doesn't work. In fact, it will make it worse. So, if it's RSD then I use massage and electrical stimulation or another treatment that I know works.

      Acupuncture

Let's say I need nerve pain relief in my back. Then I would use massage, ice/heat and light stretching to ease it. I would do this for 3-5 days and if it didn't help then I would seek medical attention.

Acupuncture/acupressure both work great to ease nerve pain. However, the pain has to be quite serious before I do this, because it can get expensive. It requires several treatments as well as time and travel.

      Electrodes

You can also use electrical stimulation which entails electrodes being applied to strategic parts of the body. It's typically done by a physical therapist who determines the time and frequency of treatment. This method is great for nerve pain relief and to speed up healing.

It's also a good idea to determine why you have nerve pain in the first place, sometimes it's obvious if it's an injury, but other times it seems to come from nowhere. Once you determine how you got it you need to try and not do whatever it was that created it. For example, stress can cause nerve pain, so if you're stressing it's up to you to find a way to relax.

      Healthy Lifestyle

If you find yourself with frequent nerve pain then you should analyze your lifestyle and see what you can do to improve it. Maybe you need to eat healthier, exercise more, meditate, get more sleep and relax/reduce stress. In other words, maybe you can prevent nerve pain.

Taking proper care of body, mind and spirit will work wonders when it comes to nerve pain relief, but you have to do your part for it to work.
