Popcorn is a natural whole grain snack that provides us with fiber and complex carbohydrates with very few calories.

Popcorn is recommended by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Popcorn is low in calories -- only 31-55 calories in one cup of unbuttered, and when lightly buttered, one cup only contains 133 calories.
It has no artificial additives or preservatives, and is sugar-free.
It contains energy-producing carbohydrates and is an ideal in between meal snack since it both satisfies and doesn't spoil the appetite.

If you are looking for a way to make micro wave popcorn without the prepackaged bags and without using a popper, I have the recipe for you.

Difficulty: Easy

  • Brown paper lunch bag
  • Microwave

Pour into a bowl (careful it's hot). Season with Parmesan cheese, Cajun seasoning, diced apples, or nuts... Experiment and you will be sure to come up with a favorite. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can lightly spray with butter if you just can't do without.
  • Be careful when lifting bag out of microwave. Steam will be hot.
