Acne can be troublesome and embarrassing, but over-the-counter products can often irritate your skin or even make your acne worse. Essential oils are an easy way to treat acne, and are often more affordable than buying acne kits.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Grapeseed carrier oil
  • Tea Tree Essential Oil
  • Bergamot Essential Oil
  • Clove Essential Oil
  • Lavender Essential Oil
  • Rosewood Essential Oil
  • German Chamomile Oil
  1. Step 1

Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial properties, and can help dry the oils on your skin. Add several drops to your acne cleanser or face wash to boost the anti-bacterial and drying properties.

  2. Step 2

Add one part tea tree oil to nine parts water and mix well. Use a cotton ball to apply this to your face after you wash it. If this is not string enough, you can slowly increase the concentration of tea tree oil, but remember that tea tree oil can dry out your skin.

  3. Step 3

Make your own acne treatment using a combination of the following oils: tea tree oil, clove oil, lavender oil, rosewood oil, and bergamot oil. Take two tablespoons of grapeseed oil, and add 5-10 drops of each of these essential oils. This mixture will also help prevent acne, so rub this mixture all over your face each night before bed. This can also be used as a spot treatment.

  4. Step 4

You can help reduce redness and swelling by applying this mixture to trouble spots: mix 10 drops of german chamomile and 10 drops lavender oil to two tablespoons of grapeseed oil. This will reduce redness and help the healing process.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never use undiluted oils on your skin
  • If the mixture is not strong enough you can increase the amount of essential oils; however use the mixture for at least one week before increasing the amount
  • Always test the mixture on a patch of skin to ensure you do not react badly
