Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Vinegar is a safe, cheap and easy solution to cleaning a urine stain from a hardwood floor. Not only is it effective at cleaning stains, but vinegar is a powerful odor fighter. With vinegar though, it is important to properly dilute it, so that the vinegar itself does not replace the urine with its own strong smell. The goal is to get rid of the urine smell without replacing it with a vinegar odor.

  2. Step 2

Dilute 1/2 cup vinegar per 1 gallon of water into a bucket. Using a mop, thoroughly clean the urine stain and the surrounding flooring. Be sure the properly wring excess water from the mop. You do not want to make the floor too wet. This can lead to a safety hazard.

  3. Step 3

Let the wet floor thoroughly dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dilute the vinegar in enough water
  • Ventilate the area
  • Using other harsh chemicals can ruin your hardwood flooring
