How to Remove Masking Tape From Rubber

Masking tape can be difficult to remove after it has been on a surface for quite a long time. The major difficulty with masking tape is that when you try to remove it, it tears into smaller strips, which makes it even trickier to remove the rest.

• Hair Dryer
• Solvent

1. Masking tape can be a nuisance to remove from rubber or any other surface but it is not impossible. There are a couple different methods to try that can aid in the removal of masking tape.

2. The first method is using a hair dryer. Simply try running a hair dryer over the backing of the tape to soften and loosen the adhesive. Try heating the tape for 1-2 minutes. After it has been heated, try to remove the tape.

3. If applying heat does not help to remove the masking tape, then apply solvent directly onto the tape. Let the solvent soak for approximately 5-10 minutes. After the solvent has sufficiently soaked in, remove the tape from the rubber surface.
