Things You'll Need:
- Foundation
- lipstick or lip gloss
- SPF
- foundation

Step 1
Go to a makeup consultant at a department store to find the right foundation color. Make sure they are familiar with colors for dark skin tones. If you buy makeup directly from the store, find a foundation that closely matches your skin tone. Make sure it has a SPF of at least 15. Women of color need to protect their skin from the sun also.
-
Step 2
Choose a pressed or loose powder that is one shade lighter than your skin tone. Try it on at the store to make sure it works for your skin. In the summer, you may need to buy a different color because you may get darker in the summer.
-
Step 3
Choose the right lipsticks, lip gloss, eye shadow, and mascara. Dark skin tones look great in reds and browns. Stick to eye shadow colors that are neutral or highlight your skin tone. Stay away from loud purples and blue. Mascara is a must for all women who wear makeup. Try companies that have lots of colors for women of color. They include AVON, Covergirl, Fashion Fair, and Revlon.
