Things You'll Need:
- 50mm x 50mm x 1.2m plank of wood 50mm x 65mm x 1.4m plank of wood 10mm x 20cm x 20cm piece of wood Padded seat and back of an old chair Coach bolts Saw Screwdriver Screws Sandpaper
-
Step 1
Use the saw to cut two pieces of wood 50 mm x 65 mm x 40 cm. These will be the feet of the chair.
-
Step 2
Cut one piece of wood 50 mm x 65 mm x 60 cm and two pieces 50 mm x 50 mm x 60 cm. These will be the struts of the chair.
-
Step 3
Make an X with the three 60 cm pieces of wood. Place the two thinner pieces on the outside, intersecting with the thick piece of the inside. Make the X about two-thirds of the way along the length of the planks, but the actual dimensions will depend on the length of your legs. Play around with it until you get the height right.
-
Step 4
Once you're sure about the height, use four screws to join the planks together at the intersection point.
-
Step 5
Use screws to attach the feet, one on each side at the bottom of the X, perpendicular to the struts. You will now have an X shape sitting on two feet. One side will be lower than the other.
-
Step 6
Use screws to attach the 10 mm x 20 cm x 20 cm piece of wood to the struts on the side that is higher. Angle the wood so that it's pointing toward the lower end. This will be the seat.
-
Step 7
Use coach bolts to attach the padded seat on top.
-
Step 8
Use the screws to attach the backrest from the office chair to the struts on the lower end of the X. Angle it downward toward the opposite foot. This is the knee rest.
