How to Use Boss Pedals
Boss pedals are guitar effects built into little metal boxes that you set on the floor and control with your feet. The pedals help you to manipulate the desired sound coming from your guitar that goes into your amplifier. Boss manufactures a wide assortment of different effects that can be distinguished by their color. The following steps give you some quick and easy ideas on how to use Boss pedals.

1
Purchase a power supply unit instead of buying batteries for your Boss pedal. Having the power unit saves you money in the long run, and will help save your sound toward the end of the night when most batteries become weak. A weak battery will muffle and distort the intended sound.

Use shielded guitar cords. You need two cords--one from your guitar to the pedal and one from the pedal to the amplifier. If you have two or more pedals, you will need additional guitar cords to chain them together.

Fine-tune your Boss pedal. Before stomping on the Boss pedal, turn down the levels. Set the volume on your guitar and amp at the level you like. Stomp on the pedal; this will engage it. Begin to turn up levels on the pedal.

Have a pen and paper handy to mark levels that you like for future reference. Set the levels accordingly before each song. Stomp on the pedal to turn the effect on or off at those points in your song where the effect is intended.

For longer pedal life, always unplug the power supply unit from the wall after use. If you have chosen batteries, then make sure you take the batteries out after they have expired.
