Step 1
Join a paranormal group. Most paranormal researchers are part of a group. This will put you in contact with other paranormal experts so you can ask questions, acquire contacts, and network. This also is a great way to get involved in paranormal research before you actually start studying. Search for one in your area or state.
-
Step 2
Learn all about paranormal research in order to become a researcher. You can train at home or take classes at your local college or university. The University of Virginia has a Division of Perceptual Studies that can help you become a paranormal researcher. The Ghost Research Home Study Course is another option.
-
Step 3
Volunteer to help paranormal research organizations. Search for a paranormal research organization or group in your area. See the link in the Resource box below to get started. Many will allow you to go with them during an investigation, and even permit you to help with the research.
-
Step 4
If you are serious about your pursuit, go ahead and purchase the necessary equipment. (See Things You'll Need above.) This will enable you to strike out on your own and form your own group should you decide you don't care to be part of an already established team.
-
Step 5
Apply for positions as a paranormal researcher. Post your resume on job websites, and start applying for the positions. Outline your education, skills and experience to get the position you want.
