to puppy proof your house, you need to think like a puppy. Well, not quite, but you need to be just as curious as a new puppy with the ambition that never ends. As humans, we love these new puppies and welcome them into our homes to provide and feed these puppies until they become dogs (which ultimately means they stop chewing.) However, before you get your puppy, you need to puppy proof your house to save you time and energy picking up the pieces later. Here's how!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Start by moving any liquid that is poison to a upper location or inside cabinets that can be locked. This is extremely important as curious puppies find themselves every place they shouldn't be. Purchase dog gates to keep the puppies out of areas (such as the garage with lots of cans of liquids) or buy door latches to keep those cabinets closed.

  2. Step 2

Make sure you go over the ground rules with the entire family about people food that harms puppies. Since puppies have sensitive stomachs, it is important to make sure they only eat dog food. Other foods such as grapes and chocolate could make your dog fatally sick so make sure it is doggie food or bust.

  3. Step 3

Move the plants. Dogs seem to love the idea of chewing on leaves. To avoid this annoyance and make sure they don't become ill, move the plants to higher ground.

  4. Step 4

Buy your puppy proper toys and make sure they only chew toys or bones. Once they start chewing on anything else, you are sure to have a problem.

  5. Step 5

Furniture is off limits when it comes to gnawing and so when they get the urge use bitter apple to stop it. Before the new puppy arrives, spray those pieces of furniture that might come into contact with the puppy. This will eliminate any worry you might have about chewing.
