Another great cleaning agent besides soap and water is baking soda. Baking soda can be used to scrub all sorts of surfaces. My favorite places to use it are the fridge, my cooler, and the bathtub. It deodorizes while it cleans, and also, when I use it in the tub, I add a little vinegar before I rinse. The reaction it has with baking soda helps to clean out the ol' pipes. Another great thing about baking soda alone: if you leave a partially open box in the fridge and another partially open box by kitty litter boxes or diaper bins, it helps to cut down on the odor.

Finally, make sure when you shop for cleaning supplies, you buy green products. Use reusable scrubbers and cloths, and if you must use paper towel, use paper towel made of recycled paper.
