A Tire chain makes it a little bit safer to drive in the winter months. With snow and ice on the road, tire chains will prevent your car from getting stuck on the highway. So let’s get started, just follow the steps below.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Tire chains always go on the drive wheels. Always install on the drive wheels. Lay the chains on the ground with the hooks facing down.

  2. Step 2

Drive your vehicle half way onto the chains.

  3. Step 3

Now pull the tire chains up and all around the tire. Keep the cable connectors on the outside. Reach behind the tire and connect the connector cables on the inside first. Remove as much slack as possible before connecting the outside cables. Make the outside connector as tight as you can.

  4. Step 4

Connect some bungee cords to the chains to keep it as tight as possible. Tighten chains every few miles to prevent it from coming loose. Do not speed with tire chains. When tightening chains, always apply the parking brake. 30 MPH is the highest you may go on tire chains. Don’t go any faster than that.
