Blogger offers a handful of blog templates to get started. They’re rather basic, but they do the job if you’re new to blogging. If you’re looking for a blog design that has a little more style and attracts a few more readers consider downloading a new Blogger template. You can find countless options for free blog templates on the Internet. Read on for how to incorporate it into your existing Blogger Blog.

Find a template that you like, and that matches your blog's theme, by searching the internet for free Blogger templates.

  2. Step 2

Download or save the new template to your computer. Most templates will allow you to then open a file where you can simply copy the HTML code.

  3. Step 3

    Sign into your Blogger account.

  4. Step 4

From the dashboard page click "Layout" then the "Edit HTML" tab.

  5. Step 5

Highlight and delete the current HTML code for your blog. (Blogger gives you the option of downloading your current blog template so you don't lose everything if something were to go wrong.)

  6. Step 6

In it's place paste the HTML code for the free Blogger template.

  7. Step 7

    Preview the new blog template

Before saving the template, preview it to make sure you like the changes. In the preview mode you should see your blog titles, profile, and blog posts which have all been preserved. Depending on what other gadgets and widgets the free template includes you may be missing some elements from your original blog. Any changes you made to the HTML code of your original template will not be transferred to your new blog.

  8. Step 8

If you're satisfied with the look of your new blog click "Save Template." Blogger will notify you that some of your widgets will not be saved. Write them down so you know what you need to fix once you start using the new template.

  9. Step 9

Go back to the layout tab and click on the page elements option. You'll see the outline of your new blog here. If there are page elements that you do not like you can delete the gadget. Blogger also allows you to add countless gadgets to customize your blog. Refer to the list your wrote in the previous step so you don't leave content off your blog. You can also move elements around on your blog to put them in a different order or another column.

  10. Step 10

You can also adjust the fonts and colors used in your new template by clicking on the fonts and colors tab. Blogger will even suggest colors that matches your blog's new look.
