Until the practice of shaking hands goes out of vogue, sweaty palm sufferers will want to figure out a way to solve, or at least minimize, this problem. Read on to find out how to reduce this condition.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hand Or Wash Towels
  • Cornstarches
  • Palm/foot Antiperpirants
  • Talcum Powder
  1. Step 1

Try clapping cornstarch or talcum powder between your palms. Medicated powders are available to soak up moisture, too.

  2. Step 2

Use an unscented, aluminum salt-based antiperspirant, preferably a product made for palms and feet.

  3. Step 3

Wipe your palms often on tissues or a hand towel.

  4. Step 4

Apply aluminum chloride paint to the area for persistent clamminess.

  5. Step 5

Make an appointment to see your health care provider if over-the-counter remedies don't help. Profuse sweating that occurs at inappropriate times (when you're not hot and you haven't been exercising) is a rare condition called hyperhidrosis.

  6. Step 6

Get several opinions; some things help some folks and not others.

Tips & Warnings
  • With the help of your medical provider, discuss prescription drugs, toxin injections and even mildly invasive surgical procedures that are available.
  • Learn about iontophoresis, a technique that involves applying low electrical currents to affected areas.
  • Sweaty palms in a tense or high-anxiety moment is perfectly normal and will ease up once the moment has passed.
  • If symptoms persist or if you have specific medical conditions or concerns, we recommend you contact a physician. This information is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment.

on 1/14/2009 Hello, I've tried almost everything to cure sweaty palms.. Drysol, herbal remedies, baby powder.. you name it. The only cure that did work is iontophoresis! I made my own device at home (for just a few bucks and it's sooooo simple) after finding andy goodmans cure and I'm 10000x thankful for that becuase my palms don't sweat anymore at all!!

PS: just search for "cure my sweaty palms" by andy goodman
