Step 1
Keep fresh cool water available at all times.Pets are at high risk of heat stroke. Keep fresh cool water available at all times. Keeping pets hydrated and out of the sun will tremendously reduce the risk of heat stroke.
-
Step 2
Walk your dog in the grass. When walking your dog, avoid hot surfaces such as asphalt and cement. The pads on the bottom of a dog's feet can burn when they come in contact with hot surfaces. This is very painful for dogs and can be avoided by walking your pet in the grass. Grass is much cooler and more comfortable.
-
Step 3
Keep the indoors cool.Pets can still suffer from the heat while indoors. Keep pets cool indoors by running the air conditioning or a floor fan during the day. Pull shades and window coverings to minimize direct sunlight.
-
Step 4
Leave your pet at home.NEVER leave pets in a car unattended! The temperature inside vehicles can reach deadly high temperatures, even on a mild day. Opening the car window is just not enough. Make a better choice by leaving your pet at home.
