Things You'll Need:
- 2 or more Computers with wireless cards
- WiPeer software link in resources
-
Step 1
You could set up an ad hoc wireless network using the windows method, this is somewhat difficult and takes quite a bit more time than the other method I will show in detail. See link in resources to Microsoft for detailed instructions on how to do this.
-
Step 2
Download WiPeer software, see link in resources. This is a free program to set up an ad hoc network in a very short time. Save the file to a location you can find, I have a download folder on my desktop. Currently this program is only available for Windows XP and Vista.
-
Step 3
Click on the downloaded file to install the WiPeer program. Installing the program will create a shortcut in your programs tab as well as on your desktop. The program will start after installation. It will ask what your ID name is, put whatever you want here so your friends will recognize you.
-
Step 4
You may have to unblock the program so it will work properly, I had a windows prompt pop up. A firewall program may block it as well.
-
Step 5
Fill in your information (if you so choose). This is optional.
-
Step 6
Next you can create your own network, if you are connected to a router it will disconnect and start broadcasting a new network. You will configure your network before it starts.
-
Step 7
Or you can select an existing network (which doesn't disconnect you from the router).
