A liver cleanse will increase bile production and flush the gallbladder. Gallstones may be released into the bowel as the ducts are softened by the cleansing procedure.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

    Begin by Fasting

  1. Step 1

For 3 days eat only the fresh organic apples and beets, as much or as little as you like. You may juice them (do not drink more than 8 oz. of fresh apple juice at a time to prevent stomach upset) or chop the beets into a salad adding apple cider vinegar for dressing. Drink plenty of distilled water. Do not eat anything else.

  2. Step 2

On the third day, take 2 level tsp. of epsom salts dissolved in 8 oz. of water and the juice of one small lemon as soon as you awake and repeat every 8 hours for a total of three times.

  3. Step 3

At bedtime on the third day drink 6 oz. of cold-pressed olive oil followed by 8 oz. of distilled water and the juice of one lemon.

  4. Step 4

    Go to bed immediately.

  5. Step 5

Lay on your right side with knees drawn up. If you have to go to the bathroom, get right back in bed in the same position. You may feel bile rush through your liver into your bowel, and you may see many soft fatty "stones" in the toilet. The flush can be repeated in 2 weeks.

Tips & Warnings
  • After the cleanse return to a normal diet slowly. Eat only fresh organic non-starchy vegetables and fruits and clear soups the first day. Add whole grains and starchy vegetables slowly. Reduce your intake of animal protein and saturated fat to maintain good health. Avocados, nuts and seeds including coconuts, and wild caught fish are good sources of healthy fats. In rare cases a liver flush may trigger a gallbladder attack. If pain persists, does not resolve with moist heat to the abdomen or a hot bath, or is different than previously experienced pain, seek emergency help immediately. In rare cases, tiny gallstones can become lodged in the pancreas resulting in pancreatitis, a painful condition that must be treated medically. Early diagnosis is crucial. Pancreatitis may be fatal. Do not do this liver cleanse if you suffer from diabetes or have any type of infection. Consult a physician or other health professional before beginning any extreme cleansing regimen.
