Remove a Mole Safely

In a doctor's office a mole is usually removed by freezing or by using a razor. These methods can be costly, and may result in scarring. Removing a mole at home can create problems, if done incorrectly. If you're willing to try an at-home method, you can remove a mole safely for little cost.

Things You'll Need

  • Castor oil
  • Washcloth
  • Honey
  • Antibacterial soap

Instructions

  1. At-Home Mole Removal

    • 1

Wash the affected area. Add a small amount of antibacterial soap to a warm wet washcloth. Gently wash the mole-affected area with the washcloth and rinse with cool water.

    • 2

Pour a small amount of castor oil into a shallow bowl for easier application to the washcloth.

    • 3

Apply the castor oil. Soak one of the corners of a new, clean washcloth in the castor oil. Apply a generous amount to the mole and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.

    • 4

Repeat the process three times a day. Since it can take many applications before the mole will start to disappear, apply the castor oil once in the evening, once in the afternoon and once before you go to bed at night.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the mole is on your face, use a more gentle product than castor oil. Use the same procedure, but replace the castor oil with honey.

  • Never try to cut a mole off your body. This can open your body to infection, and will most definitely leave a scar. Always observe the size, color and edging of the mole. Moles can be the first signs of skin cancer. Any suspicious moles should be looked at by a doctor.
