How to Change Ring Tones on a Blackberry Pearl

Using the factory-set ringtone on your Blackberry Pearl can become quite boring very fast. Luckily the process for changing Blackberry Pearl ringtones is very straightforward and can be taught using several basic phone functions. If you're new to the Blackberry device use, don't fret; the process is very linear, and you should have no problems if you follow each step.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Navigate to the "Profiles" icon from your Blackberry Pearl home screen. Choose the profiles options by pressing down on your trackball.

  2. Step 2

    Find the "Advanced" option once you have entered the "Profiles" screen. Click on Advanced by once again using the trackball.

  3. Step 3

    Find the selection named "Active," and click on that option with the trackball.

  4. Step 4

    Find the option for which you would like to change the ringtone. If you want to change your phone's ringtone, you can choose "Phone;" however, you can also change "SMS" and "Messenger" ringtones if you choose.

  5. Step 5

    Find the "Ringtone" option to see the current ringtone. Click on that option using your trackball, and you will find the available ringtones. Hover over each option to hear a sample of the ringtone. Click on the trackball to select a new ringtone.

  6. Add A Customer Ringtone For a Selected Contact

  7. Step 1

    Navigate to your Blackberry Pearl Address book. You can find the address book from the main menu. Click on your trackball to enter the address book.

  8. Step 2

    Scroll down to the contact you want to customize, and click on the Blackberry menu button.

  9. Step 3

    Find the "Add Custom Ringtone" option, and press the trackball to select that option.

  10. Step 4

    Find the ringtone you want to set for your contact, and press the trackball to set the custom ringtone. That one contact will now have an individual ringtone.
