1
Wash your hair in hot water, using an anti-dandruff shampoo. (Experts recommend not using this type of shampoo with colored hair because the chemicals in the solution actually strip the dye from the hair.) Try using the shampoo over the course of a week to remove the color.

2
Heat up 1 cup of extra-virgin olive oil in the microwave and apply it directly to your hair. Let the olive oil sit for 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse it out. Olive oil can sometimes remove hair dye by getting directly into the follicles and flushing out the dye.

Use a colored shampoo such as the Brunette or Blonde line from John Frieda. These shampoos use special ingredients that bring out the different shades found in hair colors. Use a color that matches your dye job to make the color look more natural and even.

Mix 1 cup of your regular shampoo together with 2 cups of hydrogen peroxide and 1 cup of water. Apply this mixture directly to your hair and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, then wash it out with hot water. The mixture will help strip the bad dye from your hair and reveal the natural color beneath.

5
Dye your hair again, if you can't fix the bad dye job using any of the other steps. Choose a hair dye that's the same shade as your natural hair color if you went lighter, or choose a shade darker than your current color if you used a darker shade.
