A Yardman snowblower is a great machine, and some are real classics. Many old Yardman snowblowers are still in use today. They do have some minor common problems, like the inability to start after a long summer indoors. If you own one but it is not working properly, you will need some basic tools in order to fix it.
- Difficulty:
- Moderate
Instructions
- Screwdriver
- Spark plug ratchet (13 millimeters or similar)
- Small wire brush or pipe cleaner
-
-
1
Inspect the fuel line that leads from the carburetor to the engine cylinder. This line must be free of cuts, bends and debris.
-
2
Remove the fuel line by removing the circular clamps that connect the line to the engine nozzle and carburetor with a screwdriver (if the clamp is still attached). Insert a small wire brush or pipe cleaner into the hose to clear blockage.
-
3
Reattach fuel line to the engine and carburetor using the clamps you removed in Step 2. Prime the engine, and then start the snowblower. If it does not start, go to Step 4.
-
4
Remove the spark plug using a 13-millimeter socket wrench (or properly sized wrench). Twist the spark plug off the machine, and inspect the metal pin. If necessary, clean it with the wire brush, and file the sides of the pin until they are flat and square.
-
5
Replace the spark plug by inserting it back into the cylinder head and turning it until it is tight. Then try to restart the snowblower.
