Step 1
Draw a template of the airplane, the wing piece and a rounded tail. This can be as simple or as elaborate as your imagination will take you. If you prefer an already made template, check Resources for a free one.
-
Step 2
Cut out the template designs. For each plane, there should be one body and one rounded tail.
-
Step 3
Place template designs flat on the Styrofoam. Cut the foam using the template pieces as a guide. If you are using an egg carton or meat tray, make sure to clean the Styrofoam before using.
-
Step 4
Cut a slit in the middle of the body of the plane. This will be for the wings.
-
Step 5
Cut another slit into the back of the plane. This will give you a spot for the rounded tail piece.
-
Step 6
Squeeze the tail into the tail slit that you made earlier. Now, squeeze the wing piece into the wing slit made. The thickness of the Styrofoam may make this step difficult, but the thickness of the Styrofoam keeps the pieces secure.
-
Step 7
Paint the airplane the color of your choice using the acrylic paint. Let the Styrofoam dry completely before flying.
