    Things You'll Need

    • (2) 11.5-inch by 30-inch Birch plywood, 0.5-inch thick
    • (2) 13.75-inch by 30-inch plywood
    • (1) 9-inch by 8-inch plywood
    • Circular saw
    • Tape measure
    • Pencil
    • Finishing nails
    • Hammer
    • Wood glue
    1. Instructions

      • 1

        Mark a tapered diagram on the plywood for all sides. The garbage can will be wider at the top and smaller at the bottom. Measurements are listed in the next step and will be narrower on one side to enable the ability to fit in narrow spaces.

        Cut two pieces at 30 inches high and 11.75 inches wide at the top and 8.75 inches tapered to the bottom. These are the sides.

        Cut two pieces at 30 inches high and 13.75 wide, tapering down to 11 inches wide at the bottom.

        Place a side panel to the front panel with the front panel overlapping the side panel. Apply glue down the side-panel edge, and place against the front panel. Nail in place with the finishing nails.

        Repeat Step 4 for the other side.

        Apply glue to the back side edge of the side panels and insert the back panel between the two side panels. Nail in place.

        Attach the 9-inch by 8-inch piece of plywood to the bottom with wood glue and nail in place. Allow the glue to dry thoroughly and place where desired.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Make a matching lid. Varnish when finished.

    • Use all safety precautions when using power equipment.
