Things You'll Need:
- Measuring tape
- Thinset
- Trowel
- Glass wall tile
- Grout, grout float and sealer
- Glass sheet
- Clear silicone adhesive
-
Step 1
Measure the length and height of the wall where you plan to make the glass backsplash. Select glass tiles from your local home improvement store to coordinate with the décor of your kitchen and to fit the space.
-
Step 2
Apply a thin layer of quick-drying thinset to the wall. Work in small sections so you have time to place the tile before the thinset sets. Do not notch the thinset with your trowel as you would in other tiling jobs. The glass is translucent and you'll see the trowel marks. Let the adhesive dry.
-
Step 3
Spread grout over the glass backsplash, making sure to fill the crevices between the glass tiles evenly. Grout floats help you apply even pressure as you fill the gaps. Wash the glass tiles thoroughly before the grout has a chance to dry with warm water and a sponge. Seal the grout after it dries.
-
Step 1
Take your backsplash measurements to your local glass supplier and have a glass or Plexiglas sheet cut to fit. You can select from an array of colored glass panels to use as a backsplash.
-
Step 2
Clean the wall and the glass backsplash area thoroughly. Anything on the wall or the back of the panel will be visible.
-
Step 3
Apply clear silicone adhesive to the corners of the glass backsplash and press it against the wall. Hold it in place until the adhesive sets according to the manufacturer's instructions.
