      Check out the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. There is no admission fee, however, they do ask you to consider donating a small fee of $2 for each adult and $1 for each child towards caring for the plants and animals. If you choose not to donate the money, you are still welcome.

      There are plenty of events and the zoo is open year round. Bring the kids for an entire day of seeing animals, sculptures and flower gardens. Pack your own lunch to enjoy, picnic tables are first come, first served in the Como park or spread out a blanket on any grassy area in public spaces.

      Tour the Mall of America. The mega mall has everything from a movie theater to an underwater aquarium. For those wishing to skip paying for fun, head for Lego land, which has over 90 life-sized models made out of legos, and let the kids play with some for free at the lego tables. The Mall of America also offers Toddler Tuesdays, where you can bring your toddler in on Tuesdays from 10AM to 12PM for free activities. For the adults, check out the Rotunda for free events. Everything from free musical concerts to celebrity sightings and autograph sessions.

      Enjoy free gallery admission and programs to the Walker Art Center from 5PM to 9PM on Thursday nights. You can take in an exhibition, make art, and much more.

      Bring the kids to the free Holidazzle parade. This parade, which is one of Minnesota's best winter traditions, is held every year from late November to late December.

      Go on a free tour of the Spam museum. You can play trivia, can Spam products and even buy some memorabilia. The museum is housed in a renovated Kmart store. Call 1-800-LUV-SPAM to schedule a family tour.

      Get some autographs and even a sneak peek at this year's Vikings football team at their training camp. Vikings practice sessions admission is free, however Mankato State University does charge a $5 per car fee for parking.
