For many people, becoming the chief executive officer (CEO) of a company can be the pinnacle of a career. But, people who become chief executive officers generally have a lot of drive and commitment. They are people who work hard and are driven to success. A person might be the CEO of a company but wants more. In order to find a new position, this person must write a resume, and on that resume, the CEO must write a career objective.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Notebook
  • Pen
  1. Step 1

Evaluate what you want in your career and what your present position isn't providing with those goals in mind. This process can take several days or weeks if you're only dissatisfied in general and don't have specific dislikes about your position.

  2. Step 2

Formalize your career objective in a simple and concise sentence. Don't make general statements such as "I would like to be more satisfied in my position as CEO." It would be much better to say "I would like to become CEO of a company that has multiple divisions that require extensive coordination of engineering functions."

  3. Step 3

Add a sentence that describes why this kind of a position would give you job satisfaction. If it would fulfill a lifelong dream, say so but also explain why this has been a dream for you or give an example of what you've done to pursue this dream, such as keeping a diary of your advancements toward obtaining your specific career objective.

  4. Step 4

Continue with a sentence explaining why you've done a good job at your present position, or your latest position if you're currently unemployed, and what you accomplished at that position. This will help to explain that you're a conscientious CEO even if it's not your dream position.

  5. Step 5

Finish up with a sentence that indicates you're more than ready to get started at your new position and it would be a career that you could devote your life to.

Tips & Warnings
