Step 1
Take the relationship one day at a time. Instead of rushing or trying hard to bring on the attraction, just stay friends for the time being to allow the person to grow on you. Hang out frequently, talk on the phone and within time, you will be amazed at how much fun you are having and the physical attributes wouldn't be a big deal as you expected.
-
Step 2
Look for their greatest strengths. There has to be something incredible about the person that grabs you. Are they smart? Funny? Has a great talent (be it music wise, good at a business? Compassionate or a hard worker? Lighthearted? These qualities are easy to find and can be quite a turn-on.
-
Step 3
Try not to compare the person with those you find attractive. While it easy to divert your attention to someone that you consider 'hot', refrain from getting nitpicky especially with physical features. Find something that makes the person a 'knockout' in your eyes; their smile, their voice or simply the way they walk.
-
Step 4
Keep a positive mind. This can be tough, especially for those who are used to dating very appealing types. If you believe minor changes can be made; hairstyle, weight, wardrobe or anything else that can make a difference in their looks, do not be afraid to give suggestions and help out without being offensive. Also remind yourself at the end of the day, someone who captures your heart is the most important thing in a relationship and looks is a small fraction in building a relationship together.
