Things You'll Need:
- A container large enough to soak your feet in
- Essential oils (optional)
- Bath Towel
- Nail polish remover
- Nail clippers
- Nail File
- Orange stick
- pumic stone
- lotion
- Base coat
- Colored nail polish
- Topcoat
-
Step 1
Fill the container or tub with enough warm water to soak both of your feet. If you'd like to add some essential oils to the water, go ahead and do so at this time. Set the tub of water in front of a chair, and lay the towel on the ground next to it.
-
Step 2
Remove any old nail polish from your toenails at this time. Use the nail clippers to trim your toe nails straight across, and then file the edges until they are smooth.
-
Step 3
Soak your feet in the tube of warm water for at least five minutes. This is necessary in order to soften the cuticles so that they can be pushed back. After five minutes, use the orange stick to push your cuticles back towards your toes. If you don't have an orange stick, you can use a rounded nail file.
-
Step 4
Next, use the pumice stone to gently rub away any rough spots on the heel or bottom of your foot. Run your hand all over your foot to find additional rough spots and then buff them smooth. Once you are finished, return your feet to the tub and allow them to soak for a few more minutes.
-
Step 5
Remove your feet from the tub and use the towel to pat them dry. Rub lotion onto each foot, really focusing on the soles of your feet. Once the lotion has been absorbed into your skin, use the towel to wipe each toenail, ensuring that they are free of lotion.
-
Step 6
Apply the base coat to your toenails, then two coats of colored nail polish, and then finish with a topcoat. Wait at least one minute between each application. Sit still and allow the polish to dry for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, avoid wearing socks or shoes for about an hour to give the polish time to fully set.
