Things You'll Need:
- (6) side boards = 3/4 x 5 1/2 x 15 in [1 x 6]
- (6) side boards = 3/4 x 5 1/2 x 16 1/2 in [1x6]
- (4) side support = 2 x 2 x 19 12/in [2 x 2]
- (4) base support 1 x 1 x 12in. [2 x 2]

Step 1
canadiangardening.comWith all of the side boards (short & long). Drill holes in each corner 3/4 in from the edge. Holes should be made to fit 2 inch screws
Using 2 inc. screws, attach the shorter boards to the side supports, flush to the edge, with a 2 in. projection at the bottom and a 1 in projection at the top. -
Step 2
canadiangardening.comUsing 2 in. screws, attach the longer boards to the outside face of each of the side supports, creating a square ended butt joint.
Prepare the base supports for 1 1/2 in. screws by drilling a hole about 1 in from each end. Place one support between each of the four side supports inside the box, positioning them at the base, flush with the bottom board. Screw into place. -
Step 3
canadiangardening.comFit the base, by cutting a 1 3/4 square from each corner of the piece of plywood. Using a power drill with a 1 in. spade bit, make five drainage holes. Drop the base into the case from the top.
At the top drill a 1/2 in. diameter hole for the dowel. Use waterproof glue to secure. -
Step 4
cannockgardens.comProtect the case, coat wood in a preservative inside and the outside. Lastly, paint case.
