1. Check your local discount clothing store (such as Ross or Marshall's). Though the recession has taken a toll on previously low prices, it is still sometimes possible to get good deals on designer names at these stores. Set a price limit for yourself (ex no more than $12 for a pair of pants, $10 for a shirt), and start looking through the racks of clothes item-by-item. If luck is in your favor, you'll be able to score a killer deal on a brand new article of clothing.

2. Check the clearance sections of your favorite designer mall chains. It might sound surprising, but stores like American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Hollister often have a small clearance section in the back of their stores with amazing prices. It's not unusual to find $15 jeans, $12 collared shirts, and $8 T-shirts, though your luck all depends on when you go. It's a good idea to check around the time these stores introduce their new seasonal lines.

3. Keep up-to-date on going out of business sales. With this economy, more stores than ever are closing at a rapid rate. It's a good idea to check out these stores for deals as their inventory begins to thin. You might have to sort through piles of unorganized clothes, but it's very easy to find a deal. I was able to pick up a $130 pair of French leather casual shoes for $12 with this method!

4. Shop around on eBay. In an attempt to get some extra cash, a lot of guys are selling off their old clothes online. Browse around, keeping an eye out for clothes in great shape with low shipping prices. Go for auctions that use vague or misspelled keywords for the best deals. A few months back, I scored a tailored formal blazer for $10 shipped! And deals like this are not at all uncommon.

5. It never hurts to check your local thrift stores. Though a lot of the clothes might be out of fashion, smaller stores often have half off sales, and the inventory changes frequently. If you spend enough time looking, you're sure to find some great deals. For example, just last month, I picked up a green slim-fit collared shirt by Express for just $1.50 in like-new shape! Just make sure you wash whatever you buy before you wear it.
