If you are a mom who loves to write, a mommy blog is a great way to practice your craft and have fun. Read on to find out how easy it is to get started.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide which blogging platform you will use. Blogger and WordPress are two of the most popular free options for blog hosting.

  2. Step 2

Decide on a name for your blog. Do a search for the name that you choose before you officially name your blog, just to be sure that no one else has already claimed it.

  3. Step 3

Create your account and customize your blog. There are a variety of templates to choose from, so take your time to find the one that you like best.

  4. Step 4

Decide how much information you want to share. Mommy blogs are different than say, a blog about your favorite band, because you will be writing about your family. It's important to know up front what your comfort level is with regard to sharing names and photos of your kids.

  5. Step 5

Begin making posts. You can write about whatever you want on a mommy blog, which is one of the reasons it's so much fun.

  6. Step 6

Build traffic to your new blog by posting regularly, visiting and commenting on blogs that interest you, and placing a link to your blog in your signature on forums.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be you. Don't try to imitate someone else's blog, just write about your life in your own voice and your posts will be much more enjoyable to read.
  • Add a statistics counter to your blog so that you will be able to see how much traffic you are getting and where it's coming from. This help you determine which methods of blog promotion are working best.
  • Don't overload your blog with too many gadgets and blinkies, try to keep it simple.
  • Be cautious about sharing your last name, location, and birth dates of family members.
  • Don't comment on other blogs just to promote your own, make sure that you actually enjoy the blog and have something of value to say.
