Things You'll Need:
- Houseplants
-
Step 1
After the winter, houseplants can be taken outdoors for a much needed boost. As long as the plant is getting the proper amount of sunlight that is specified, it will do quite well. This process will ensure a fast growth of the houseplant so that when they are brought back indoors for the winter, they will be a much healthier plant to weather the dormant time during the winter.
-
Step 2
No matter what time of the year, it is essential give the correct amount of water and fertilizer to each plant. Blooming house plants will need to have the dead blooms snipped off to encourage more blooms. If the plant gets too big for the pot, it is recommended to replant in a pot only one size larger to keep the plant from going into shock. Also, loosen the roots around the base of the plant to encourage more growth before re-potting. If desired, separate the plant into 2 or more plants in smaller pots. It is best to a layer of rocks or pebbles in the bottom of the pot to ensure proper drainage and prevent the roots from rotting.
-
Step 3
Some houseplants require more humidity than others. To facilitate more humid conditions for a few houseplants, use a mister bottle filled with water and mist water on the plants daily.
-
Step 4
By caring for your houseplants in this manner, there will be a profusion of plants in the home for you and your visitor’s enjoyment.
