How to Decorate with Baseball Themes
The key to successfully decorating rooms in theme motifs is the layering of both bold and subtle features that hearken back to the theme. The level of detail and the refinement of the materials depends on the use of the room. A room you would do for your 10-year-old son can be more fun and cartoon like and generally over the top than planning a den for your baseball fanatic husband. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Install a wall mural of a baseball stadium, crowd scene or field scene for an immersion design experience. On walls with a white paint base, mark off large arcs matching the baseball line of the stitching on a baseball and paint it red for a dramatic but not overwhelming pattern.
-
2
Epoxy new baseballs on each of the four posts of the bed to act as decorative finials in the spirit of the room. For other themed architectural features mount baseball bats on the wall with threaded bolts, hung either vertically or horizontally, to be used as racks and hooks to hang clothing and bags. Add a miniature commercial popcorn machine or a beer tap and huge jars of peanuts for a hang-out basement or den.

3
Use green AstroTurf as carpeting or cut it out in various shapes to be used as throw rugs by the bed or desk. On hardwood or concrete flooring use white paint, masking tape and a stippling paint effect to mimic the chalk lines in a baseball diamond. You could even paint random trompe l'oeil peanut shells on the floor as though they had been tossed to the ground.

4
Use baseball hats, signed balls, photos and jerseys from a favorite teams as atmospheric decor. Use manufactured or homemade handles in the shape of miniature bats and baseballs for furniture and closet doors. To make these yourself purchase the relevant theme shapes in the woodworking or toy-making sections of a crafts store and paint the shapes at home.

5
Upholster a side chair or desk chair in white faux leather, and use red suede lacing to place a baseball stitch on the back or seat. Use fabrics, upholstery and bedding in crisp sporty colors reminiscent of a ballpark: crisp grass green, white, red and light, medium and dark shades of cool blue and field dirt tan or brown.
