A beautiful leather steering wheel.

Few things beat the gleam of a well-polished car interior. Furthermore, few satisfactions beat having a superbly polished leather steering wheel. With conventional leather treatment solutions, this could be hazardous, as they leave a slick residue. Slick residue is not what you want on your steering wheel. But a sumptuous steering wheel is not the exclusive perk of a new car--have faith. As with many things in life, the solution is simple.

      About this much polish.

Apply the appropriately colored shoe polish to the steering wheel. While most polishes are sold with an applicator sponge, you can use any clean rag to apply the polish. You will not need more than a quarter-sized, flat smear of polish for one coat.

    • 4

Use a dry rag or towel to buff the steering wheel for approximately three to five minutes. This ensures the polish adheres to the leather and won't rub off on your hands.

    • 5

Add a second quarter-sized coat of shoe polish (and buff for another three to five minutes) for a deeper, richer shine.
