How to Make a Crystal Wedding Cake Top
Nothing adds a more elegant note to a wedding than personalized touches. Some of these touches may include a special memento, a picture frame that would be perfect with just the right photo inside or a crystal statue that reminds you of your relationship to the groom. Things You'll Need
- Crystal ashtray
- Crystal memento
- Steel wool
- Craft adhesive
- Clean cloth
- Acetone

Select a base for your crystal cake topper. An ideal base is a crystal ashtray turned upside down. Its slightly concave shape is ideal for the top of a cake.

Clean the bonding surfaces of your crystal base and your memento.

Slightly roughen the bonding surfaces using steel wool.

Apply E6000 craft adhesive to both bonding surfaces.

Press the memento into the top of the cake base. Leave to dry and cure for 48 hours.

Clean up any excess glue by wiping clean with acetone.

Tips & Warnings
E6000 is a better choice for bonding your crystal memento to your base than super glue or hot glue because it dries clear and will not yellow with age.
Only use glue and acetone in a well-ventilated room.
