How to Check Partitions on a Hard Drive

It is not immediately obvious when using Windows on a strange computer whether it has multiple hard drives or one hard drive that is partitioned. Fortunately, there is a utility built into Windows that will allow you to view information on all drives and partitions.

Instructions

1. Click on the "Start" menu and then on "Run." This brings up the Run window.

2. Type compmgmt.msc in the text box and click "OK." This will open the Windows computer management window.

3. Expand the "Storage" section of the left menu tree and then click on "Disk Management." This section displays all the drives and partitions in your computer.
